Facial Plastic Surgery - Cheeks & Chin Implants in Atlanta, Georgia

Chin Implant

Facial plastic surgeons increasingly have recognized the importance of restoring facial volume lost during the aging process as well as lifting sagging tissue.  The midface and cheek area is frequently a prominent site of soft tissue volume loss.  It is also well recognized that high cheekbones generally improve facial aesthetics.  Cheek implants may enhance both the soft tissue and bony part of the face depending on which type of cheek implant is used and the placement.  A wide variety of cheek implants are available and it is critical for the surgeon to review the patient's anatomy and discuss videoimaging of photographs to insure selection of the proper implant.  Cheek implants are placed through incisions inside the mouth and may be used in conjunction with facelift, midface lift, or eyelid surgery to improve aesthetics of the midface.

High cheekbones are a sign of beauty.  Cheek implants are often used for facial wasting or complaints of a "hollow" look.  Cheek implants enhance both the soft tissue and bony part of the face depending on which type of cheek implant is used and the placement.  Malar implants augment the bony cheek while submalar implants augment the hollow under the eyes.  Care must be taken to select the proper implant characteristics for the desired cosmetic result, since each type of implant has unique properties.  The newer cheek implants have the ability to provide a more natural appearance.

Chin implants add definition to the jaw line and improve overall balance of the face.  Atlanta cosmetic surgery patients frequently consult with us for nasal or aging face concerns which are significantly impacted by a weak chin.  For example, a patient dissatisfied with the size of their nose seeking rhinoplasty (nasal surgery) may actually find that the major problem is that their nose is out of proportion to other facial features.  Patients who perceive their nose as being too big for their face are frequently surprised at the improvement simply adding a chin implant can make.  Chin implants can also improve the appearance of the neck and jawline by restoring overall balance to the lower face and may be performed in conjunction with facelift surgery.

Many Atlanta patients are surprised at the difference a chin implant makes to their appearance and choose to consider this minimally invasive cosmetic surgery.  Since balance and proportion are fundamental aspects of facial aesthetics, facial implants are an effective option for selected patients.
